Charleston Moms has partnered with Lydia Bracken to bring our readers the following article.

Road trip season is right around the corner, with spring break fast approaching and summer waiting just beyond! Among the flutter of planning, packing and caring for car maintenance items, take the opportunity to order the new children’s book published by Lowcountry author and mother of four, Lydia Bracken.

Charlie’s Road Trip takes you with young Charlie as he journeys from South Carolina to Virginia on the way to his grandparents’ house. Along the way he engages in the familiar game of ‘Are We There Yet?’ with his mother and father, while his baby sister sleepily rides along beside him. Settle in to read this book with your children before your own road trip and let them enjoy seeing and hearing the variety of ways Charlie finds to entertain himself on his journey.

Aimed towards an audience of 3-6 year olds, the book can still entertain your older children as they challenge themselves to figure out the times and distances between each request. There are a few guiding questions at the end of the book to get you started but many more could be formed on your own to continue the fun together!

This is Lydia Bracken’s debut children’s book, but she has been writing and publishing articles on her blog for over a year at Charleston. Family. Travel. as well as contributing a few guest posts elsewhere online.

Charlie’s Road Trip can be found on the Barnes & Noble website to order here.

Enjoy the journey!
