Just a Normal Mom Wanting A Comfortable Bra (A Crowd-sourced List!)

2

You aren’t pregnant. You aren’t breastfeeding. You’re done having kids (for now at least). But you also aren’t 22 anymore. What the heck kind of (comfortable) bra are you supposed to wear?

This question was a big discussion with my friends so I started asking around. “I’m looking for a comfortable bra. Any recommendations?” Radio silence. Most people didn’t have an answer but they were sure looking for one!  Some of the responses I received were, “I’m still wearing my nursing bra.” “I just wear sports bras.” “Tell me what other people say!”.

We’re just a bunch of normal moms, with after-kid boobs, who want a comfortable bra. Is that too much to ask?

Well, my friends, I crowd-sourced and compiled a list. Here’s what was recommended!

braCrowd-sourced Recommended Comfortable Bras

  1. True and Co Triangle Convertible Strap Bra

This was my submission – and let me tell you, I can’t see myself ever wearing another type of bra. It is extremely comfortable, has no underwire, and makes the girls look good. I’ve even slept in it (accidentally) because it’s so comfortable. I Highly recommend it to everyone I know!

2. Spanx Bra-llelujah! Lightly Lined Wireless Bra

Best bra I’ve ever owned! Life changing! Almost as comfy as a nursing bra” said my friend!

3. Lulalu

My friend swears by these bras for fellow members of the IBTC (IYKYK). “I LOVE these and will not wear anything else. I’ve tried every kind. I like these because they have a no-wire option and they’re so comfy. They also have wider band sizes, which is hard to find when your boobies are small.

4. Torrid Wire-free Push-Up Solid 360 Back Smoothing Bra

I recently found my love, after trying SO MANY, through Torrid. The wireless pushup is *chef’s kiss* I can’t tolerate wire anymore, not doing it” said a fellow Charleston Moms contributor!

5. Soma Endbliss Wireless Bra

I just got some from Soma today on a whim and it’s been my most comfortable day in years! The ladies were awesome at the Charleston location. I love the Enbliss Wireless and Enbliss Bralette.”

6. Natori Bras

The person who recommended Natori bras also recommends getting a real bra fitting after you are done nursing or having kids. Smart!

  1. This article is perfect as I’m just wrapping up nursing after two kids in a row and 4 years of shape shifting breasts. I’ve been looking for bras too and I just landed on one from Vibrant. Just passing on the name because I’m obsessed. A little pricey, but they have good sales and I love that I’m not smothering my post-hormonal skin with toxins.

  2. The Elli Bralette by Charleston local bra company, Non Disclosure Apparel, ABSOLUTELY needs to be on this list! Not only is it wireless, it’s seamless, soft and stretchy and there’s no back clasp to fool with. In fact, the Elli Bralette has no rigid structure at all so it feels like…not wearing a bra. Plus! In addition to its fuhgettaboutit comfort, the bralette has a very unique feature: its unpadded AND nipple concealing. (Yes, this bra exists!) It has non removable, concealing petals built inside the cups to hide your nips without the added bulk of padding. It’s the perfect bra really, and it’s great for tweens, teens and women of all ages. It’s a pull over your head and go – never worry about your nips poking through your shirt – bralette that will quickly become your favorite, everyday bra! Truly a game changer. Find it locally at Two Cumberland & Ragamfuffin (smaller sizes) or online at ndapparel.com.
