Iron Rose Bar and Restaurant
Location: 115 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401 (Inside the Mills House hotel)
Iron Rose Bar and Restaurant is a newly opened restaurant inside the Mills House hotel in downtown Charleston. Their menu features Southern Coastal cuisine and since date nights are essential to my husband and me, we made reservations.
The massive bar that first greets you when you walk into Iron Rose boasts a gorgeous rose art piece. The name Iron Rose pays tribute to both Charleston’s historic ironwork easily found when taking a stroll downtown and the Noisette rose, which was first grown in Charleston in the 1800s.
The dining area is just as impressive, with oversized booths and tables set delicately for two or four. The dimmed lights and walls lined with mirrors make for a romantic ambiance. The staff is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable, offering their suggestions for the evening.
An outdoor courtyard with a fireplace is an additional seating option here — bound to be a popular and intimate place to gather with friends and family.
The American cheese board, including sweet spreads and a charred broccolini dish, were both excellent starts to our meal. What followed was the cooked-to-perfection, grilled swordfish sandwich with shoestring fries and a flat iron steak. I sipped on the Cheshire Life cocktail and a delicious not-on-the-menu-yet cucumber mocktail.
We never forget dessert, and the three-flavor gelato plus praline crunch bar was absolutely heavenly!
