If you live in the Summerville or North Charleston area then you’ve probably seen all of the construction and new building happening along Dorchester Road. We were super excited to find out that one of the new businesses coming to the area was KinderCare, a childcare and early education center for children ages 6 weeks – 12 years. With other centers throughout the U.S., this is a welcome addition to the family-oriented Summerville/North Charleston areas of the Lowcountry. Fun fact: KinderCare hasn’t been in South Carolina in over twenty areas and they are so excited to be here!
The North Charleston KinderCare just had their Grand Opening event and I had the opportunity to drop in and see the new center for myself. You might have seen the Facebook Live we recently did before their big opening (if not, check it out here!) so this was another great opportunity to see the new space. And what a space it is!
The North Charleston KinderCare center
If you saw our Facebook Live, then you’ve already gotten a glimpse into what the new North Charleston center looks like. Let me tell you, it’s even better in person! It is bright, clean, and feels so homey. As moms, we know what an impact our physical environment has on our children. And nothing is worse than going to a child-oriented place that is cold and sterile. I was so impressed with the new KinderCare center. The toys, books, cribs, and everything else in the different rooms were welcoming and just what you would want to see in a childcare center.
One of the most impressive rooms was the indoor gym at the new center. While there is also an outdoor play space with playground equipment, having space indoors ensures that the kids are getting physical activity every day even if the weather is not cooperating. The indoor gym was filled with activities and equipment to suit a variety of different ages and the kids at the Grand Opening event were definitely having a ball in there!
Another equally impressive thing I noticed through the North Charleston KinderCare center was the communication via bulletin boards spaced throughout the center. There was a bulletin board right in the main entryway that held all of the important announcements for the week. Each classroom had bulletin boards where important communications were placed for parents to see each day. Many of the rooms had little chalkboards outside of the classroom with a little note letting parents know what they did that day and how the day went. This is great for being able to easily spot important information.
Talking with staff
The Grand Opening event was a great chance to talk with the North Charleston staff. They were so nice and gave me some really great information about the center and what to expect if your child is enrolled there. It was clear that they were enthusiastic about teaching and caring for the children in their classes, and took the high standards of KinderCare very seriously. They loved showing me around their classrooms and telling me more about what the days consist of. The teachers were all warm, welcoming, and overall exactly what you would hope for when you leave your kiddo in childcare!
As a mom, choosing a childcare center for your child is definitely one of the most important decisions you’ll make. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to check out KinderCare’s new center in North Charleston. It is warm, welcoming, and clean and the staff seems so passionate about their responsibilities. With such a heavy population of new families in the Summerville and North Charleston area, this is the perfect spot for a new childcare center. Stop by and check it out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
