7th Annual Ladybug Release

August 1 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Annual Ladybug Release is still on for its 7th consecutive year!
Come be a part of releasing 144,000 ladybugs into the environment!
Magnolia Plantation & Gardens invites Lowcountry families to participate in our 7th Annual Ladybug Release on August 1st, 2020. Our Ladybug release is going to look a little bit different this year. In an effort to continue social distancing and keep staff and guests safe, this will be a scaled down release and we will be implementing new procedures.
The event will be held from 9am-1pm and, like in past years, will feature exhibitors, nature displays, environmental organizations and the famous Volkswagen Beetle resembling a gigantic ladybug. This year you will pick up your ladybugs upon arrival at the ticket kiosk. After pick-up, you can scatter throughout the gardens to find the perfect spot to release your share of ladybugs.
Ladybugs help control other small, more harmful insects such as aphids and scale insects, but this event is about more than just Ladybugs. Parts or the world have the cleanest air they’ve seen in years. Worldwide greenhouse gas emissions are falling and even the planet’s rivers and bays are clearing up. Now more than ever, the world is showing us how important it is to pay attention to our environment, and that it is up to us to take care of it. This event is a great way for children to learn how they can help preserve and protect our natural environment.
Don’t forget to come dressed in your favorite ladybug costume and be a part of the costume contest! Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: children ages 3 and under, ages 4 to 6, ages 7 and up, and family/group. The contest will take place at about 11:30 am.
Please remember to follow social distancing guidelines, volunteers and staff will be on-site to help keep everyone 6 feet apart. We want this to be a fun and safe event for everyone!
Paid garden admission is required to participate, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Garden admission is $20 for adults, $10 for children 6 to 12 years and children 5 and under get in for free. Please note: complimentary passes will not be accepted for this special event.
Want to buy your general admission tickets in advance? Follow this link to our new ticketing page. Please present ticket to ticket kiosk upon arrival. https://tickets.magnoliaplantation.com/
