This wonderful vessel that could eat whatever it liked in my twenties and still keep a pretty rocking body, had decided that all good things must come to an end. I had put on some weight before I got pregnant at the same age, and since then, I have never reclaimed the body that was once mine. I have gone through periods of time when I accept this and then times where I can’t believe I let this happen and I crash diet to lose ten to fifteen pounds, only to pack them right back on the second I stop “dieting”.  

I had decided to take my health and body back last year, only to be sidelined by an old injury that really left my spirit broken. I started feeling like maybe this new body was the body I was just going to have. But recently, I decided that enough is enough. I am ready to feel like myself again. I am ready to put on that killer outfit and make this year MY year.  

Right as I had decided to embark on a weight loss journey, Charleston Mom’s Blog was looking for a contributor to try out a personal training studio in Charleston. The studio is reFORM Studios, located in the Park Circle neighborhood in North Charleston. Talk about fate!

3 ReFORM Studios Jumpstart Program-Reclaiming your HealthreFORM Studios is all about getting you back to where you need to be. They offer several options for personal training. The program that we will be discussing here is their 30 Day Jumpstart Program, which is what I have just started. It consists of the following:

  • Simple eating plan, meal prep tips and menu and recipe ideas to make that side simple (family friendly)
  • Private FB group support
  • Email support
  • Complete initial and final fitness assessments to measure progress
  • Lifestyle plan that includes any addition cardio or exercises to do on own
  • Healthy habits coaching and life hack tips

Every new member starts off with a private consultation along with a fitness and health assessment. I met with Katrina Cobb, the owner, and also an instructor at reFORM. She was very thorough in her questions and wanted to make sure I was going to get out of the 30 days exactly what I was looking for. We discussed my set backs in the past and how I could set up to make sure they didn’t happen again in the future. Katrina and I came up with a food plan that would be easy to follow based on what has, and has not, worked for me in the past. I met with Ali, the head trainer at reFORM, and she took my measurements. We scheduled my three dates for the following week and I was all set to begin!  

I must say that I am optimistic about the future this time around when it comes to this program. I have been completing three days a week at thirty minutes each session. They move quickly and Ali works with your strengths and helps modify when you may have a weakness. The other people that I have met during these classes have been very encouraging as well. Thirty minutes is totally doable and now that I am a week in, not only is it something that I feel I can do, I actually FEEL BETTER.  

I look forward to seeing where this month leads me. I feel like reFORM Studios is going to be an amazing place to begin the new and improved version of me. Check back in a few weeks for my final review and to see where I am in my journey!
