6 of My Favorite Parenting Podcasts

0

I am a total podcast junkie. I got hooked years ago and just absolutely love this medium for consuming all info – parenting tips, world news, funny stories, pop culture updates – everything. I began listening to parenting podcasts well before I became a mom or was even married when I stumbled upon “The Longest Shortest Time” podcast and I couldn’t get enough.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve acquired a number of other parenting and non-parenting podcasts that I loyally listen to. In this list, I’ll share my favorite parenting podcasts that can help prepare anyone who is about to become a mom or in the thick of it.

I hope you find one (or many!) you like. Enjoy!

My Favorite Parenting Podcasts

The Longest Shortest Time

It’s almost impossible to not fall in love with the host, Hillary Frank. Though this podcast is no longer active with Hillary moving on to other projects, the episode library still lives on for all to enjoy. Each episode gives unique glimpses into parenthood from a variety of perspectives. Some will make you laugh; others may make you cry. Each story is more thoughtful and insightful than the next one. I also have a deep appreciation for the title of the podcast as it refers to how parenting can somehow feel like “the longest shortest time” and anyone who has a young child will totally understand that.

Good Inside

Dr. Becky has a huge following and for good reason. She touches on so many common difficult parenting topics, breaking them down into tangible, actionable tips you can implement in your family quickly. In one episode she said a quote that I was so inspired by and helped me to get through my hard parenting days, “This feels hard because it is hard, not because I’m doing something wrong”.

Project Parenthood

Short on time? What mom isn’t! This podcast breaks down even the biggest parenting topics short and sweet. Over 600 episodes and most between 10-20 minutes long so you can get your info quick!

Raising Good Humans

Just listening to Dr. Aliza makes me feel seen and that I am bettering myself as a mom and person. She has such a wonderful demeanor and candor in her guest interviews and the stories she tells. The show description says “As a parent, do you ever wish someone could just whisper some realistic and trustworthy support in your ear? And not make you feel awful for not having all the answers? Well, that’s what I’m here for”, and Dr. Aliza does not disappoint!

The Motherly Podcast

The wellbeing brand Motherly is known for many things, namely those videos that somehow always make me cry. Example here, but first grab the tissues. The host is a co-founder of Motherly and a mom of four. She hosts many well-known experts and celebrities bringing a wide range of topics and perspectives.

Mama Said

The celebrity-hosted podcast will give you a space to truly laugh out loud. Each episode the two hosts share their “wins and fails”, bring on guests to discuss a poignant parenting topic, and always end with a “sh**** mommy” – which features a listener story that is always hilarious and lightens the mood when you need it the most.
