Fun Activities to Celebrate Grandparent’s Day

Grandparent’s day is a day to celebrate the wonderful grandparents in your life. Grandparents are often huge parts of our children’s more important memories. Help your child celebrate their grandparents this Sunday with one of these activities:

  • Host a special dinner for grandparents. Maybe even find the recipe to a family favorite and replicate it for Grandma and Grandpa.
  • If grandparents are not local, use your smartphone to film a video of your child(ren) answering questions, such as “What do you love most about grandma?” “What is your favorite thing to do with Grandpa?”
  • Create a photo gift to showcase a great memory with Grandma and Grandpa. There are so many photo gift options out their today—personalized mugs, pillows, coasters, photo collages and books, etc.
  • Grandma’s are known for their tasty cookies and treats. Take after Grandma and bake a special treat for your grandparents.
  • Invite Grandma and Grandpa over for storytime (you can even do this over FaceTime). There are so many great stories out there about grandparents. Storytime snuggled up on the couch with grandma and grandpa is sure to put a smile on their faces and the warm and fuzzies in their hearts.
  • Write a poem for Grandma and Grandpa.
  • Shower your Grandma and Grandpa with a list of all of the reasons you love them! There are also a variety of printable worksheets online to make for Grandma and Grandpa. Here are a few to choose from:
  • Ask Grandma and Grandpa what their favorite day would look like, and then make it come to life by planning a special day for you all to enjoy together.
  • You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! Visit a local ice cream store or buy all the toppings to set up an ice cream sundae party at the house.
  • Give the gift of time and memories to your grandparents by making an activity jar for Grandma and Grandpa. Include activities such as, ice cream date, picnic, movie night, sleepover, etc. and have Grandma and Grandpa pull an activity from the activity jar each week or month for you all to do together.
  • Schedule a night of fun and host “Game Night” with Grandma and Grandpa.
  • Top off the memory bank with make your own pizza night. Set out a variety of toppings and decorate a pizza pie to Grandma’s preference.
