The 4th of July is all about celebrating the birthday of America, thanking those who fight for our freedom, bbq-ing with friends and family, and fireworks! Oh, the fireworks! There’s something magical about seeing the sky light up in red, white, and blue. We’ve compiled a list of fantastic fireworks displays and Independence Day events happening in and around Charleston!

Downtown

2023 Independence Day Weekend Concert

The City of Charleston is thrilled to continue its celebration of the arts with a special free-to-attend Fourth of July Charleston Symphony concert at “The Joe” — followed by a fireworks display!

Date: Friday, June 30, 8 pm – 9:30 pm

Location: Joe Riley Park

Admission: Free general admission, advance ticket reservations required


Mount Pleasant

4th of July Fireworks Blast at Patriots Point 

Food trucks and live music will kick off at 6 p.m. landside of the USS Yorktown. Bring your own seating.

Date: Tusday, July 4, 6 pm – 10 pm

Location: 40 Patriots Point Rd, Mount Pleasant 29464

Admission: No general admission fee for the show, but parking will cost $20 per vehicle. Tickets for flight deck viewing of the show will cost $25 per person (limit of 6 per person; first-come, first-served at the Patriots Point ticket window starting July 4th at 9 am).


Isle of Palms

Fireworks on the Beach

Date: Tuesday, July 4, 9 pm – 9:30 pm

Location: Front Beach area, Isle of Palms

North Charleston

4th of July Festival

Featuring musical guests, food trucks, vendors, and a fireworks show! Bring lawn chairs/blankets. (No outside grills, fireworks, or sparklers allowed)

Date: Tuesday, July 4, 5 pm – 10 pm

Location: Riverfront Park, 1001 Everglades Ave, North Charleston

Admission: Free!


Summerville

Fireworks and Freedom Festival

Join in the annual Summerville tradition with live music, food, a kid’s zone, fireworks, and more! Bring your own seating; small personal coolers are allowed.

Date: Tuesday, July 4, 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

Location:  Gahagan Park, 184 W. Boundary Street, Summerville

Goose Creek

Annual Fabulous Fourth in the Creek

This free event will showcase live music, food vendors, and free kids’ activities.

Date: Tuesday, July 4, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Location: Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd, Goose Creek

Admission: Free!


Kiawah Island

Independence Day Festival

This festival will kick off following the Annual Bike Parade at Night Heron Park with many attractions for family and friends to enjoy! Festivities include live music, carnival games, inflatables, a photo booth, and more! Select attractions and crafts $3 – $15.

Date: Tuesday, July 4, 6 – 9 pm

Location: Night Heron Park, 4000 Sea Forest Drive, Kiawah Island

Admission: This event, as well as gate access during this time, is limited to Kiawah Island guests and residents. Admission to the festival is complimentary.


Moncks Corner

Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks

Fireworks begin at dusk (9:30 pm) and can be viewed from your vehicle or you may bring your own seating for the Event Field. There will also be food trucks, vendors, live music, a DJ, face painters, balloon artists, and more!

Date: Saturday, July 1, 6 pm – 10 pm

Location: Regional Recreation Complex, 418 East Main Street, Moncks Corner

Admission: Free!


Daniel Island

Daniel Island Independence Day Celebration

Celebrate Our Country, Our Freedom, and Our Nation’s Birthday by making Daniel Island one of the “Most Patriotic Towns in America.” Paint the Town Red, White, and Blue, and join us for Daniel Island’s Independence Day festivities on Sunday, July 2nd with neighbors, friends, and family. Dress up your homes, your businesses, your bikes, and your golf carts with patriotic colors and take part in our island tradition of honoring this wonderful holiday.

Date: Sunday, July 2nd, parade begins at 4 pm

Location: The parade starts at Bishop England High School parking lot (by sports fields) and finishes at Daniel Island Drive & Purcell Street.

Admission: Free!


Folly Beach

Folly Beach Independence Day Fireworks Show

On Tuesday, July 4, Folly Beach will celebrate the 4th of July with a huge fireworks display hosted by the Folly Association of Business (FAB). Locals and visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the Independence Day show, which will start at sundown and be visible from anywhere on Folly Beach and for miles around.

Date: Tuesday, July 4th starting around 9 pm

Location: Fireworks will launch from 3rd Block West.

Admission: Free!


Sullivan’s Island

4th of July on SI!

The festivities begin with a golf cart parade at 9 am and ends with the party in the park!  Bring a chair or a blanket and get ready for the big show! Music will be provided by the Shem Creek Boogie Band, with fireworks starting shortly after 9 PM.

Date: Tuesday, July 4th; parade at 9am, party in the park at 6 pm

Location: Golf cart/bike parade starts at Sunrise Presbyterian Church and ends at Sullivan’s Island Elementary School. Party in the park to be held at J. Marshall Stith Park 2058 Middle St Sullivans Island

Admission: Free!
