There are so many wonderful holiday festivals and celebrations taking place around the Lowcountry this year! Parades, tree lightings, and festivals…we’ve got you covered!

Holiday Festival of Lights

Dates: November 12 – December 31

Location: James Island County Park, 871 Riverland Drive, Charleston

Details: Featuring over 700 displays and 2 million lights, the Holiday Festival of Lights is a cherished holiday tradition for many families throughout Charleston and beyond.

Mt Pleasant Towne Centre Lights Up

Dates: November 20, 6pm – 8pm

Location: Mt Pleasant Towne Centre, 1218 Belk Dr, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464

Details: Don’t miss the spectacular laser light show and the lighting of our 40′ Christmas tree. Live performances by the East Cooper Baptist Church Choir & Orchestra and Gravel Road, a bluegrass band with a modern twist, featuring vocal harmony precision, popular song choices, and holiday favorites.  A visit from jolly old St. Nicholas himself. Face painting, balloon animals, and glitter tattoos. It all happens in front of Belk.

Chanukah in the Square 2021

Dates: November 28, 4 pm – 6 pm

Location: Marion Square

Details: We are thrilled to return to Marion Square this year to continue the tradition of celebrating in person as a community. Please plan on being there with your neighbors, friends, and family. Bring an appetite and your dancing shoes. We will supply the hot food, the live music, and the festive atmosphere! There will be no shortage of potato latkes. *Family-friendly, Free, and No RSVP Required*

Old Time Summerville Christmas Celebration

Dates: November 30, 6pm – 8:30pm

Location: Hutchinson Square, Summerville

Details: The 2021 Old Time Summerville Christmas Celebration will have a tree lighting ceremony at Hutchinson Square, music, pictures with Santa, live window displays, letters to Santa, food vendors, and ice skating (reserve your ice skating time slot in advance.)

Christmas on the Battery

Dates: December 2, 5:30 pm – 8 pm

Location: Edmondston-Alston House, 21 East Battery, Charleston, SC 29401

Details: Enjoy a special evening at the historic Edmondston-Alston House. Tour the festively decorated house by candlelight and hear the Charleston Caroling Company. Warm up in the courtyard with a glass of wine or hot cider where local storyteller, Fouché Sheppard, will perform Gullah Christmas stories. This event will follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and masks will be required inside the house.

Tickets must be purchased online in advance. $35 | Members: $25

Charleston Tree Lighting

Dates: December 2, 5:30pm – 6:00pm

Location: Marion Square

Details: Enjoy musical interludes leading up to Mayor Tecklenburg lighting up the tree in Marion Square as part of Illumination Charleston.

James Island Gingerbread House & Tree Lighting

Dates: December 2, 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Location: 1248 Camp Rd, Charleston, SC 29412

Details: Start a new tradition with us! Join us for graham cracker gingerbread house making and designing on December 2, from 4:30 – 6 pm. Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30.

Christmas in the Creek Holiday Tree Lighting

Dates: December 3, 5:30pm – 8:30pm

Location: 519 N Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek, SC 29445

Details: Kickoff the holiday season in Goose Creek as the City’s Christmas tree is lit for everyone to see! Christmas in the Creek will feature holiday hayrides, holiday crafts, s’mores roasting, hot chocolate provided by Helping Hands of Goose Creek, photos with Santa, and LOTS more! The tree lighting will take place at 6:00 p.m. The Lakeside Light Display will be up throughout the month of December.

IOP Holiday Street Festival

Dates: December 4, 2pm – 7pm

Location: Front Beach on the Isle of Palms

Details: Arts, crafts, food vendors, children’s activities, and live entertainment.

Annual Hanahan Christmas Parade

Dates: December 4, 10 am – 12 pm

Location: Hanahan High School

Details: We invite the community to come and kick off the Christmas season with a parade. The parade will start and end at Hanahan High School.

Chanukah Festival

Dates: December 5

Location: Addlestone Hebrew Academy, 1675 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407

Details: Join Addlestone Hebrew Academy for a free, community-wide celebration! Your family will enjoy crafts and activities for kids of all ages, latkes, giveaways, and an exclusive peek inside our school! In order to ensure the safety of all, attendees will be required to wear masks. Free registration here.

Charleston Christmas Parade

Dates: December 5, 3;30pm

Location: Downtown Charleston

Details: The Charleston Christmas Parade is back this year and will be better than ever!  Bands, floats, marchers, and performers proceed through the streets of historic Charleston. The parade will commence on Broad Street at Rutledge Avenue, travel North on Meeting Street, and conclude on Calhoun Street at Meeting Street.

Santa’s Christmas Party

Dates: December 8, 10 am

Location: Columbia Marionette Theatre, G.M. Darby Building, 302 Pitt St., Mt. Pleasant, 29464

Details: Come enjoy this fun show, including Santa, Jack Frost, an ice skater, and Frosty the Snowman. Please call 843-849-2061 for reservations. Groups are welcome!

Deck the Halls: Golf cart Parade and Tree Lighting

Dates: December 10, 5 pm – 8 pm

Location: Nexton Square, 801 Nexton Square Drive, Summerville, SC

Details: Watch or join in the parade of lighted golf carts as they make their way down Brighton Park Boulevard and around the square. Enjoy live music and ooh and ahh over the annual tree lighting.

Folly Beach Parade

Dates: December 11

Location: Folly Beach

Details: Join us on December 11th in Santa’s favorite beach town for The Annual City of Folly Beach Christmas Parade! Line up along Center Street as floats, marching bands and community associations show their holiday spirit. Visitors and locals are all welcome! Join Santa at Folly River Park to receive goodies after the parade!

Charleston Holiday Parade of Boats

Dates: December 11, 5:30 pm

Location: Charleston Harbor

Details: The Charleston Holiday Parade of Boats is an annual event, now in its 40th year (2021). Participants decorate their vessels for a cruise around the Charleston Harbor. Thousands of spectators line the shores along the Charleston peninsula, Patriot’s Point, and other great viewing locations.

26th Annual Christmas Light Parade

Dates: December 12, 5:30 pm

Location: West Coleman Blvd.

Details: Brilliantly lit floats and community groups march down West Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade sets sail to the delights of thousands of residents and visitors.

Summerville Christmas Parade

Dates: December 12, 2 pm (*Rain date is Dec. 19th)

Location: 115 Richardson Ave. E, Summerville, SC 29483

Details: A beautiful Christmas parade in downtown Summerville.

1st Annual CHRISTmas Festival At The Knightsville General Store

Dates: December 17, 5 pm – 9 pm & December 18, 10 am – 5 pm

Location: Knightsville General Store, 1700 Central Ave, Summerville, SC 29483

Details: The Fall Festival was canceled due to weather, so we are having our 1st Annual Christmas Festival. From 5-9 pm on Friday the 17th of December & 10-5 pm on Saturday the 18th. Follow the Facebook page and discussion to see the times for the carriage rides, petting zoo, and all other activities.
