Parades and Light Displays in Charleston


Make the season bright by taking in a twinkling display of lights or magical holiday parade! Starting early in November and up until Christmas, there’s sure to be a tree lighting event or parade for the entire family to enjoy!

Lights Up

Mount Pleasant Towne Center, 1218 Belk Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC

Don’t miss the spectacular laser light show, live musical performance by the East Cooper Baptist Church & Orchestra, train rides, giveaways and a visit from Santa himself. You’ll also see a spectacular laser light show and the lighting of the 40′ Christmas Tree

November 23, 6 pm – 8 pm

Tree Lighting in Marion Square

An annual Charleston holiday jubilee featuring performances from musicians and arts organizations throughout Charleston that will culminate in the lighting of the magnificent 64-foot Holiday Tree of Lights, the official City of Charleston Christmas tree in Marion Square.

December 1. 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Holiday Parade– Marion Square 

This holiday tradition is better than ever as bands, floats, marchers and performers parade through downtown Charleston. Parade goes on Broad Street, King Street, Calhoun Street, and disperses on Calhoun between King and Meeting Street.

December 1, 3 pm

Parade of Boats

Charleston Harbor

Join in on this holiday tradition as a display of lighted and festive boats proceeds through the Charleston Harbor. View the parade along Charleston’s waterfront or decorate your own boat to join the parade.

December 14, 5:30 pm – 8 pm

Light the Lake presented by Publix

Colonial Lake, 46 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, 29401

Bring the entire family and enjoy holiday cookie decorating with Publix, a festive photo booth and letters to Santa station. Don’t forget to wear your best (or worst!) Christmas sweater for the ugly sweater contest. Plus, the Charleston Model Yacht Club will have model boats sailing on Colonial Lake.

Hanahan Tree Lighting/Movie in the Park

Hanahan Amphitheater

Head to the Hanahan Amphitheater to see a tree lighting, the movie Elf, and to see Santa!

North Charleston Christmas Tree Lighting

Friday, December 6, 2019, 6:00pm, on the front lawn of the Felix C. Davis Community Center at 4800 Park Circle. Join the Mayor for the lighting of the 40′ Christmas Tree, then take a stroll around the Circle to enjoy the rest of the beautiful tree and light displays.

North Charleston Christmas Parade

Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Felix C. Davis Community Center with the Christmas Parade beginning at 4:00 pm (NEW TIME!). The Christmas Parade* begins at the corner of East Montague and Mixson Avenues, proceeds down East Montague Avenue, around Park Circle, and back down East Montague to conclude.

FREE admission, FREE parking. Ample parking is available on the islands around Park Circle. Rain or shine.

Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade & Tree Lighting

Brilliantly lit floats and community groups will march up West Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade sets sail to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a spectacular Pyrotecnico fireworks show, immediately followed by the start of the parade at Mill St. traveling south and ending at the intersection of W. Coleman Blvd. and Patriots Point Rd.

Christmas in the Creek Holiday Parade

Saint James Avenue, Goose Creek

A Christmas in the Creek Holiday Parade is coming to Goose Creek on Saturday, Dec. 14! The parade will take place on St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The mile-long parade begins on St. James Avenue and continues to Marilyn Street.

Charleston Parks Conservancy presents Tree Lighting at Colonial Lake

Folly Beach Christmas Parade

Begins at Second Street and West Ashley Avenue

Santa parades through the streets of his favorite beach town. During the parade, knock-out some of your holiday shopping at the Arts & Crafts Show at the Community Center. Santa will be giving away goodies at Folly River Park after the parade!

December 14. 1 pm

Chanukah in the Square

Marion Square, Downtown Charleston

A free, festive party for everyone; featuring music, dancing, and the lighting of the nine foot Menorah by Charleston’s Holocaust survivors. Visitors can enjoy crafts and treats, including latkes and other traditional Chanukah foods.
