Anyone else’s skin feel like sandpaper from the miserable dry heat blasting during these cold winter months? Have you been applying lip balm and chapstick like crazy to keep your lips from becoming cracked and painful? If you answered yes to either of these questions, it’s probably time to do something nice for yourself and your poor, parched skin. Fortunately, I’ve taken the guess work out for you and can personally vouch for Toni Jobe at Enlighten Skincare, a local business that offers organic, customized skincare treatments.
Toni Jobe is the aesthetician behind Enlighten Skincare, conveniently located inside Ecohealth Wellness Center and Detox Spa in Mt. Pleasant. I’ll be honest with you, I get a bit anxious about skincare treatments, both where I am getting them and the products being used on me. My skin tends to gravitate towards the sensitive side, and I am extremely conscious about what I put on it (hello, largest organ in the body!) Enlighten Skincare was recommended to me, and from the moment I stepped inside the relaxing spa room, I knew I was in good hands (literally!) with Toni. She took the time to first understand the needs of my skin. By asking questions about what types of products I use and my daily beauty routine, she was able to customize the products she used for my facial and eyebrow wax.
ISUN Skincare products
Toni explained that she would never use a product on a client that she wouldn’t also use on herself. Enlighten Skincare features ISUN Skincare products, and they are all organic and wild crafted. Many of the products are made with essential oils and they are packed with antioxidants, enzymes, peptides, and all the great stuff to keep our skin glowing and looking young. I felt at ease knowing more about the products Toni would be using, and I was super excited to get some glow back into my rather dull and tired skin. I was relieved to hear that these products were safe for all types of skin, whether you have sensitive, acne-prone, or dry skin.
Waxing, a rather pleasant experience!
Since I had a few hours to myself, you better believe I was going to make the most of it! My eyebrows were begging for some love too, so I decided to let Toni work her magic and clean those bad boys up. I was so distracted by chatting with her about all things skincare (girl knows her stuff) that before I knew it, my brows were waxed with very minimal pain. Toni is meticulous about her work, and made sure that she got every stray, stubborn hair, which I definitely appreciated!
Now that we got the eyebrow wax out of the way, time to relax for my facial. The soothing music, comfortable (and warm!) table, and sweet smells were relaxing and just what this mama needed. I hate overpowering smells, but all of the products that Toni used had just the right amount of scent, without any artificial fragrance. As Toni worked on my skin, it felt softer and more moisturized almost immediately. There was no stinging or burning that can sometimes accompany facial treatments. The steam was a refreshing welcome from the dry heat blasting in my house. I also got a wonderful hand and foot massage that made me just want to fall asleep. Talk about relaxation!
I think we’ve all had a facial or two where we look in the mirror afterwards and wonder how you’ll be able to slip back into your car without scaring anyone because your face is bright red, splotchy, and just angry looking. Well good news… not the case here! After my facial and eyebrow wax, my skin was soft and had a nice glow, without any angry redness!
Taking care of our skin shouldn’t be a luxury
If you’re anything like me, trying to squeeze in some time for yourself often gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. We’re all busy doing all.the.things. I get it. We may think of facials and other skincare treatments as a luxury, but the reality is that our skin is our biggest organ, and taking good care of it is so important. And although self-care is a big buzz word right now, let’s not think of it as a passing trend. Let’s embrace the fact that as moms, as women, we need to take care of ourselves on the regular.
Toni at Enlighten Skincare understands that what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in them. She offers a variety of services that will target the things that you and your skin need. From waxing and facials, to microdermabrasion and spray tans, Enlighten Skincare is a wonderful place to visit for all of your skincare needs. And since it’s conveniently located inside EcoHealth Wellness & Detox Spa, you can stick around for an Infrared Sauna session or Miguan Massage afterwards! Sounds like a win-win to me!
