Can you believe our children will be going back to school soon? We may be in our final days of summer, but summer’s not over yet!

Whether you are just starting out with your littles heading to preschool or you are a seasoned mom watching your older children venture to a new grade level, the beginning of the school year brings an array of emotions. Here is the good news: Summer is not over yet!

If you are like me, you had a list of fun activities you wanted to do this summer. Some were accomplished, but others were not. Can I tell you a secret? Mama, it is okay! You did your best. Plus, there’s still time left to make more family memories.

Let’s vow to one another and enjoy the end of summer. Here are some ideas . . .

Stress-Free Ideas to Finish Summer Strong!

  • Ice Cream

My girls love ice cream. Who am I kidding, so do my husband and I! It’s a staple in our home, especially on those hot, humid summer nights. Go ahead and indulge . . . have an ice cream party at home! Fill your table with toppings galore, and I promise you — not only will your belly be full but so will your heart. There’s so much joy in watching your family delight in their time together. Who can pass up an ice cream party?

  • Water Balloons

Nothing says summer fun like a good old water balloon game. Fill them up and let the kids throw them at each other; make a game of it or just toss them in the air and laugh as your kids try to catch them.

  • Fishing

Take your kids fishing! Fishing is a great way to help teach your kids patience. There is a lot of casting and waiting during this time together. Hey, if you catch a fish, there will be a lot of celebrating as well.

Don’t let the last few weeks of summer slip away. Soon enough the kids will be off to a new school year and fall schedules will be busy.

Once the new school year rolls around, maybe you’ll be the mom crying at drop-off, or perhaps you’ll be the mom celebrating the peace and quiet. Either way is good and well-deserved. I will be the mom enjoying my morning coffee and wondering, “How did summer go so fast?”
